In the games, I want to need to read about things in order to finish some of the puzzles, I want to be surprised by some of the characters (ie learn something totally unexpected about them and have it developed in the story), I want to be surprised in the game (like when Hendrick fell off the pyramid I think that the last game that I have loved has been Legend of the Crystal Skull. I think that the creators need to add some more interest to the games. I have been feeling for a while that the games have been going downhill, but I haven't been able to put into words just what is the problem, so thank you UnusualPerfume for your post. I usually don't post on this board either, but I felt like I needed to as well. ![]() ![]() I agree with everything that was said in the original post. I really, really hope that getting back to River Heights puts some mystery and intrigue within these games. ![]() As a longtime player, I feel duped by recent ND games. The past games have really been disappointing for me Castle Malloy being probably my most liked in recent years. Yet, I had no desire to finish this game, no eagerness stemmed from being gone from gameplay for too long. I have waited months in anticipation for games which kept me busy for days upon end. I have been playing Nancy Drew games since they first came out. I couldn't tell you one thing about German castles. I used to be able to answer odd questions in class about the history I learned in ND. I miss the days of Blackmoor Manor and TRT. There was nothing even intriguing about having a series of girls being kidnapped. I miss the Nancy Drew who had to actually read the books lying around to solve puzzles or gain clues. The puzzle were fun because they were shorter, but it also made gameplay shorter as well. Most games have that one puzzle which makes your skin crawl with anger: that's what separates playing a Nancy Drew game with watching a walk through on YouTube. Nothing in it really made me toss and turn in my sleep for its complexity. See setting for how this could have been lengthened. I had hoped she would be a little crazier, interesting or something. After asking her all these questions, I could only find out one thing about her, and that was her story about how she became a storyteller. Now I ask you, what purpose did Renate serve in this game? I really could not find one. All the characters were pretty well developed, except.Renate. So, once again, the graphics were great, facial structures etc. I wish the courtyard would have provided more areas as well, how many times did I knock on a door expecting one to finally open? The forest was a nice touch, but once again, no creepiness factor was added and finding things was quite simple. The dungeon and passages themselves really had no interesting aspects, occasionally one would find some sort of clue but the mystery, horror and intrigue were completely lacking. We knew about the dungeon and passages at the beginning of the game, and finding them was a breeze simply because the game made it so easy to find. However, I was completely take aback by the lack of areas to explore. The castle itself was really beautiful, the graphics were great, and navigating was fairly easy. Okay, so I never really post on here but I really had to make comments about this game, because it irked me to no end.
